After years of gentle nudging, Alexander Cheves convinced Out Magazine to give him a dating advice column. Launched in spring 2025, "Ask Alexander" offers guidance across the queer spectrum—with unfiltered honesty, irreverence for taboos, and a refusal to talk down to anyone. Read it at Out.com.

"Last Call" in Out Magazine  

"Last Call" debuted in the print edition of Out Magazine in March 2021. Found in the final pages of each issue, the column explores difficult questions at the intersection of sex and queer culture.

Equal parts personal essay and journalism, "Last Call" has tackled subjects including gay steroid use, fetish wear on the runway, and chemsex—approaching each with a curious, sex-positive lens and insights from expert voices.

"Sexy Beast" in The Advocate

Launched in 2016 on Advocate.com, “Sexy Beast” was created to bring diverse, kink-friendly, and informative conversations on sex to the landmark LGBTQ+ magazine. 

The column explored subjects like oral sex, open relationships, and kink safety and generated the site's highest traffic on record. 

"Ass Me Anything" with b-Vibe

Between 2021 and 2022, "Ass Me Anything"—an advice column on all things anal—ran on a sexual health site sponsored by adult pleasure brand b-Vibe. Read a selection of archived posts here

"Get In Bed With Beastly" in Fenuxe Magazine 

From 2016 to 2018, "Get In Bed With Beastly" offered short essays and advice on sex and dating in Fenuxe, an Atlanta-based LGBTQ lifestyle and culture magazine. 

Film columnist, District 

During his years at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Alexander Cheves served as a senior editor and reporter for District, the school’s award-winning student magazine. He wrote a recurring column covering the Savannah Film Festival and reviewed its featured film screenings.

Sex columnist, Gay Chic Magazine 

From 2014 to 2016, Alexander Cheves wrote a regular column for Gay Chic Magazine, Chicago’s first all-digital queer culture magazine. His writing covered topics ranging from bondage to drug safety. The magazine lost funding and ceased publication in 2016.
